Why do we pay taxes to our government?

Because there are jobs that make more sense

when they are done at national level.

For example

organizing schools, hospitals, police, army, transport;

paying teachers, doctors, policemen, soldiers for doing their job.

maintaining the infrastructure needed for these jobs;

Just to name a few.

I am so glad that I don’t need to pay

the teacher for my children learn to read and write,

the production costs of a vaccine,

a fee to every thieve for not robbing me,

a toll fee for every road I use.

But why do we still pay license fees for

reading newspapers,

listening to music recordings

or using a software product?
