The motu proprio Custodes traditionis issued by pope Francis on 2021-07-16 caused world-wide controversial discussions. Some good comments:

In Estonia there are still many people who tend to be more catholic than the pope. In a Facebook group named Katoliiklased Eestis, Timofey quoted famous sectarian traditionalists:

  • Nicolás Gómez Davila (“When respect for tradition perishes, society, in its relentless desire to renew itself, consumes frantically itself.”),

  • Cardinal Gerhard Müller (“The Shepherd Hits the Sheep Hard With His Crook”),

  • Cardinal Robert Sarah (“Political Europe is rebuked for abandoning or denying its Christian roots. But the first to have abandoned their Christian roots and past is indisputably the post-conciliar Catholic Church”) and

  • Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò (“It is undeniable that from Vatican II onwards a parallel church was built. Superimposed over and diametrically opposed to the true church of Christ”)

Such posts in a group named “Catholics in Estonia” and without anybody talking against it!? I tried to reply in the naive hope that Timofey would “understand”.

At some moment I explained to the group:

Meil käib siin vahetevahel kõva vaidlus, sest usk on kompleksne teema, mis puudutab meid kõiki sügavalt. Ka minu toon kipub olema sõjakas. Mea culpa. Loodan, et mulle antakse andeks nii, nagu mina ise ka püüan andeks anda. Olgem tänulikud selle üle, et Kirik on suur ning et taevariigis on palju tubasid. Võtkem iga postitus, mis ei meeldi, nagu küsimus, mis ootab vastuse.

A bit later I went further:

Mons-Aivar Pahk ja Timofey Abuchev kui mina olen ainus siin kes teile vastu räägib, siis on selle grupi nimi eksitav. Hoiatus kõikidele: info, mis selles listis liigub, ei kajasta Rooma Katoliku kirikut.

Until yesterday another group member explained me

Kindlasti ei ole sa ainus inimene katoliiklaste grupis, kes rahumeelse katoliku usu juurde on jäänud. Mulle tundub, et Timofey ja “Padre Aivar” on rohkem provokaatori moodi kodanikud, kellele meeldibki, kui nendega vaieldakse. On tõesti üsna kurb, et katoliiklaste grupp on üle ujutatud reaktsioonilistest ja agressiivsetest postitustest.

Today I told FB to no longer notify me about Timofey’s posts. And I wrote the present blog post in the hope of not wasting any more time discussing about this topic.
