Why Christians speak about sins

Today I asked three different people for their feedback to my talk Does God forgive our sins before we confess them?.

Reaction 1 : That’s different from what I have learned. It is visible that you have grown up in another church. You should speak about it with a pastor.

Reaction 2 : This is bullshit. The church doesn’t teach this. Why else are they so focussed on making us confess our sins. All the time plucking and wrenching about sins, demand that we dig them out and confess them instead of leaving them in peace. Eastern cultures are better, they use karma.

Reaction 3 : When an Estonian knows that they have made a mistake, even when everybody else forgives them, they will never forgive it to themselves until the end of their life.
