Will Gaurav join our team?

Sunday, May 11, 2025

Yesterday I had my first Jitsi meeting with Gaurav, who will maybe join our team.

Actually this meeting should have taken place three days earlier, but Gaurav had to cancel in last minute, he wrote: “Due to a blackout in my area, there is currently no power supply. Would it be possible to reschedule our call for Saturday?”

That’s why I heard only yesterday, but for the first time in my life, that there is an ongoing conflict between India and one of their neighbours. Feel free to call me naïve.

But now I did some reading. For example I read about the Kashmir conflict, I read a news on BBC and a summary Once we were one written by Hasnain Kazim for the German newspaper Die Zeit. Kazim’s grandparents moved to newly-created Pakistan in 1947 while their brothers and sisters stayed in the place that’s now India.

And I listened to a video published by ilmfeed on Facebook tiktok where a boy from Bihar answers to a hate-promoting reporter. I found it worth a transcript:

Journalist: Aren’t you ashamed?

Kaif: Why should I be ashamed?

J: Pakistan shouldn’t be destroyed?

K: What? It shouldn’t be.

J: Long live India Yes or No?

K: Yes

J: Long live Pakistan Yes or No?

K: Yes. Long live everyone in their own space!

J: What’s your name?

K: You too long live in your place.

J: What’s your name?

K: Kaif

J: Full name?

K: Mumhammad Kaif

J: Where are you from?

K: I’m from Bihar

J: From Bihar? Aren’t you even a little ashamed that, despite living in India, you’re supporting Pakistan? Why shouldn’t Pakistan be destroyed?

K: Oh, so you’re making the news. Aren’t you ashamed about it? Yes? Aren’t you ashamed, making news and spreading it everywhere? About Hindus and Muslims? Why should we support India? First answer this, then I’ll say something you were asking. There are people over there too, here too, Muslims there too, Hindus there too, Muslims here too, Hindus here too. Everyone is human. Then why kill everyone? Tell me! Tell me why it should be destroyed? Everyone has a right to live. Everyone has that right. Then why destroy them?

J: Do you support Pakistan?

K: If you go there and someone kills you, then the job done?

J: Do you support Pakistan?

K: Yes I do!

J: You are not an Indian?

K: I am an Indian. You are saying destroy that country, destroy that country, but everywhere people live.

J: I just want to know one small thing. How taught you this?

K: Bro, I have a brain, man!

Okay I am not going to fix these problems and we don’t know whether Gaurav will want to work for Lino –I imagine that accounting and content management sounds less exciting than what he did so far–, but I’m already looking forward to working in a team of a Roman-Catholic, a Muslim and a Hindu.
