Denmark set to replace Microsoft software with Open Source alternatives¶

“[Big Tech’s] allergy to privacy and bowing to their overlords (read: the country they’re based in) has long been a thing of concern. There have been numerous cases where [US] surveillance laws forced these [US] companies to hand over user data without consulting, or even notifying, the governments of those affected. For governments, this isn’t just a privacy issue, but a sovereignty issue. And in Denmark, the Ministry of Digital Affairs has decided it’s time to push back.” (itsfoss.com)
This is good news. My congratulations to a brave nation for doing the first step. I wish you success and I’m looking forward to other governments to follow.
2025-06-15 We will see whether this plan becomes true. Caroline Stage’s words “If phasing out proves to be too complicated, we can revert back to Microsoft in an instant” don’t sound very encourageing (Denmark Wants to Dump Microsoft Software for Linux, LibreOffice).
