A president receiving prayers

Thursday, August 29, 2019. I read that US president Donald Trump routinely requests prayer at meetings (christianpost.com, 2018-05-04). The article has a photo showing Trump receiving prayer from evangelical pastors at the White House. The article mentions an interview ‘There’s Prayer on a Regular Basis in This White House’: Mike Pence Reveals Faith Behind the Scenes.

My comment: Oh no, these prayers won’t help you. Yes, prayer is a powerful practice which helps us to communicate with God. Yes, Jesus says “if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven” (Mt 18:19). But I don’t believe that God can do much for a rich man who doesn’t hear the Gospel but pays some priests to pray for his success while there are thousands of poor men an women praying for an end of their suffering caused by that rich man. Disclaimer: this is just my personal spontaneous reaction based on the few things I have read about Donald Trump. Maybe I am wrong.
