Science serves those who pay for it

I watched a trailer on and here are my thoughts.

Yes, it is frightening. The COVID pandemy and how humanity handles it shows that science is opportunistic: it serves those who pay for it. And those who make profit from the COVID pandemy (private corporations without exception) are more powerful than those who are supposed to protect the weak and the poor (public corporations). A new form of slavery is evolving where private corporations are the masters and all humans (including top-level managers) are slaves.

Even Wikipedia won’t save us, as I realized yesterday. Wikipedia –that’s one of its basic principles– refuses to consider original work, i.e. content published by an individual author. While this makes sense because it is a kind of quality control that helps filtering the chaff from the wheat, it also enforces the natural law that the rich and powerful tend to become richer and more powerful while the weak and poor tend to become weaker and poorer. One can see Wikipedia as a form of science and therefore opportunistic: it serves those who have the energy and budget to research, formulate and publish their ideas.

Those who fight against COVID vaccination are modern martyrs. They sacrifice their career and potentially their life for what they believe to be true. Many of them are triggered to act by some personal traumatic experience. And what motivates them to hold on, even despite the vast majority of those who laugh at them, is the belief that something utterly evil (something in disharmony with the Good News) is gaining control over our governments. Some of those who see the evil fall into despair, bitterness or hate, or they panic, loose their grips and believe in pseudo solutions, for example by saying that we must go back from democracy to some form of monarchy.

But today I heard the following text, written by Isaiah almost 3000 years ago:

Say to those who have an anxious heart, “Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.” Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert; the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water; (…)

Yes, I don’t fear. These egoistic and apparently immortal giants are made by our own law systems. We just need to change these laws. We can turn them into servants of the Kingdom of God with just a few bugfixes. I hope that we are actually quite close to a revolutionary solution: Subdue the greedy giants!.
